Wood Letterpress Typography on a Digital Tablet

Old and new. My recent series of pictures combines vintage letterpress printing blocks with a modern look of a digital tablet.

These wood type blocks have a lot of character: scratches, stains and ink patina. I used them to create different word and phrases on a screen: New Year, Christmas, birthday greetings, motivational slogans like think big, “take action”, “create value”, or “explore, ideas, places and opinions”, fitness or sports abstracts – “swim or paddle, run, bike” – triathlon concepts, internet (“webinar”, “web design”, “apps”) and business (“risk”) terms, and more. The digital tablet is usually presented in a casual setting with a cup of tea or coffee.
