Old Italian Greyhound

During the Thanksgiving week I was dog sitting. I had 4 dogs including two mine (2 Corgies, Newfoundland, and Italian Greyhound). So, I tried to shoot some pet portraits.

Here is Bella – the old Italian Greyhound, blind due eye cataract. A sweet dog and a real explorer. She made miles walking and running in my backyard. I have no idea how she managed to navigate among bushes and piles of broken tree branches without hurting herself.

The Italian Greyhound is the smallest of the sighthounds, but it is probably the largest among “toy” breeds.

Food Photography for Thanksgiving Day

My attempts in food photography are quite simple – mostly food ingredients in different setups for stock. I have long series of different stuff on a tablespoon, on a wooden scoop, and, on another scoop, some backgrounds and abstract compositions, a little bit of fruits and vegetables. Nothing really sophisticated.

However, my mother is just visiting me from Poland. So, for the last few weeks I have been enjoying her home cooking. I had also a chance to experiment with a food photography. Here are three examples of resulting pictures related somewhat to Thanksgiving. Of course, Thanksgiving is an American holiday, not known in Poland, but turkey and cranberries are quite popular there, at least in my mother’s cuisine.

Blog Action Day: Shall We Take Only Nice Pictures?

6:30, August 5, 2006. 70+ hours in the Missouri River 340 race. Another beautiful, a little foggy, sunrise on the river. I am looking for a place to stop and call Connie, who is providing me with ground support.

River mile 76.5. A nice sandy beach. Obviously, a popular spot at the end of the Dundee Road.

The same old question is returning to me again and again. Should I photograph and show only nice pictures from my paddling?

On October 15th, Blog Action Day, bloggers around the web will unite to put a single important issue on everyone’s mind. In its inaugural year, Blog Action Day will be co-ordinating bloggers to tackle the issue of the environment.
